Proverbs 6:16-19The Voice (VOICE)
16 Take note, there are six things the Eternal hates;
no, make it seven He abhors:
17 Eyes that look down on others, a tongue that can’t be trusted,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that conceives evil plans,
feet that sprint toward evil,
19 A false witness who breathes out lies,
and anyone who stirs up trouble among the faithful.
The Psalm of Truth
O, Truth-seeker,
We mourn the loss of what is good and what is right
in your eyes and in your heart.
We sink lower and lower into the depths of despair
as lies from deceitful tongues permeate
the peacefulness we called Truth.
The anger remains in our throats as our voices
cannot speak lest we be punished by those
who have turned their spirits from you
and seek the worldly gods known as Power, Control, and Pride.
But we know this:
We can find you in the Word
We can find you in the chapel
We can find you in the faithful
We can find you in humility
We can find you in compassion
We can find you in love
For it is your Truth that rises above these worldly gods
It is your Truth that will reign
It is your Truth that will shine light on the shadows created
by Power, Control and Pride.
And it is your Truth that seeks out our hearts
and says,
“Be with me, my child, for within me, you will find peace.”
