one word

A few weeks ago, I went to lunch with someone who asked me this:

“If you could only speak one word for the rest of your life, what would it be?”

He went on to explain that a couple of summers ago, he had been at the Wild Goose Festival in Hot Springs.  There, they had an imaginarium–a small one-room building you entered with this question on the wall, “If you could only speak one word for the rest of your life, what would it be?”

People had written their words on pieces of paper and posted all around the room.  He shared some of the responses being lifted up–love and peace being the two I remember.

And as he talked, that question lingered in my spirit, “If you could only speak one word for the rest of your life, what would it be?”

I have pondered that statement many times in the last few weeks.  Each time I meditate on it, I find that I come up with a new idea which then leads to my discerning a bit more about myself and my own journey.

Today, I leave you with that question and encourage you to let it sink deeply into your soul.
