the yearning for good

I, the blazing life of divine wisdom,

I set alight the beauty of the plains,

I radiate the waters,

I glow in the Sun, and the Moon and the stars.

With wisdom I order all things right.

I beautify the Earth.

I am the breeze that nurtures all things green.

I am the rain coming from the dew

that makes the fields laugh with the pleasure of life.

I call up tears, the perfume of  holy work.

I am the yearning for good.

St. Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), Germany
Today, may we recognize how our lives are touched by creation and honor the Creator by yearning for cleaner waters, clearer air, greener landscapes, and bluer seas.  May the sadness we feel for for an ailing Earth compel us to be the change we want to see in our planet, in our communities, and in our own backyard.

  1. This is so achingly beautiful. I tweeted it forward- and along the way found your Twitter site which I am now following.

Thank you for these so important messages- and for the gorgeous photos.
