places to play in, places to pray in

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where Nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike.  ~John Muir

Places to play in and pray in.  I have been meditating on this one for a couple of days–thinking of all the spaces where

one of my favorite places (and times of year) to play and pray

Nature healed, cheered, and strengthened me.  The pink dogwood tree at my childhood home.  The top of a parking garage in my hometown.  A certain overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  My little suburban farm.

Nature is funny like that.  She is outside our door everyday waiting for us to play with her or be quiet in her, grow with her or relax in her.  She is like the neighborhood child who arrives at your door at 8am every morning in the summertime and She is like the elderly couple sitting in the front porch rocking chairs enjoying a summer breeze.

We simply have to reach out and take her hand and appreciate the beauty she has to offer.
